Some of the comments made by guests at Casa Cerretella:
"Ceretella was a great holiday break for almost two weeks in late August 2014. The house itself was perfect for our family, with two young daughters and another family and their children and a friend. The children used the pool every day and that meant we could take turns looking after them whilst the other adults caught up, relaxed and prepared meals. One of the outstanding days was when we made use of the outside (pizza/bread?) oven. Lighting a fire mid-morning meant that by lunchtime time our homemade pizzas were cooked in record time and we left a joint of meat to slow cook in the dying embers for our evening meal. That allowed plenty of time to explore the grounds and groves with the children. The well appointed kitchen was a delight to use because it had everything we needed in the right place and it all worked - this made life very easy on a daily basis!
Local trips to Cortona, which is beautiful, is a must. A coffee at Signorelli's and gift shopping and exploring the old town was great fun, especially on a market day.
For a family food shop the Spar in Camucia made life easy, allowing the others to explore Camucia and its market, finding local butchers and another absolute must of coffee and pastries at Vannelli's - voted the best barista 2013/2014 I think, great coffee "art" with delicious coffee.
Eating out a couple of times at a couple of local trattorias was great - Valle Dame and Castel Giraldi

"We keep coming back to this idyllic Tuscan abode. The house is so homely and welcoming, the landscape supremely peaceful and unspoilt. And the location ideal for visiting this endlessly beautiful and historically fascinating part of Italy. We will no doubt be back again!

"This was my first visit back to Ceretella in about twelve years, and it was even better than I'd remembered. As well as the beautiful, spacious house and the stunning views there was now a pool - and not one of those tiny little pools where you do two lengths of breaststroke & you've reached the end. A decent-sized pool where adults could swim proper lengths & children could play in the shallow end. We loved firing up the pizza oven for homemade pizzas at lunchtime and then popping in a pork loin to slow roast all afternoon for supper. Managed several trips to Cortona, one to Pienza (the home of pecorino cheese) and a day out in Siena. But mostly we just loved staying at the house (the well-equipped kitchen is a particular delight), relaxing on the sunloungers and practising our cocktail-making skills in the evenings (we can recommend a Negroni Sgbaliato).

"Hidden away in the hills of Tuscany down a steep 2K farmhouse track lies Cerretella. A gorgeous house that has been sympathetically restored by the owners. The instructions on our arrival were perfect and the house clean and aired. The location is a delight - in quiet countryside well away from Chiantishire - with stunning views towards the lake and down the valley towards Gubbio. We were a mixed group age-wise. The 40 year-olds cycled to their hearts content, happily exhausting themselves on the substantial hills surrounding Cortona. The 60/70 year-olds walked, explored Cortona, Gubbio and Arezzo, read and painted. The five/seven year-olds swam to their hearts content and helped pick ripe tomatoes and veggies from the farm next door. It was an idyllic holiday and we considered it a major achievement when we mastered the outdoor pizza oven and made our own. I recommend it highly. One word of caution if you visit in August. Be prepared to do battle with insects of all kinds!"

"If you want that Italian experience, this is the place to stay, a real home with every room tastefully decorated, furnished and with a very thoughtfully kitted out kitchen. I have now visited Cerretella 7 times and have experienced all 4 seasons. I have been as a couple, with friends and as a young family, each works. Open fires in the winter, BBQ's and the bread oven in the summer. The swimming pool is beautifully positioned, it gives you this feeling of being on your own amongst the Tuscan hills. The library of books is very extensive, you also feel like they are yours and not well thumbed and soiled paperbacks.
The views and sounds from the house are very relaxing, great in each direction and a real "I wonder what it is like to live here full-time."
Analdo (the neighbour) grows great produce including a very drinkable wine. You are on the border of Umbria and Tuscany and day trips from here are easy and able to be varied, offering a great array of destinations. Every restaurant you visit in the area, you leave being on first name terms with the owner. The wine merchant in Cortona has turned me into being rather knowledgeable on Italian wines and how they compare to other regions in the world. I now only seem to drink Italian. "Snoopy" a now family favourite Gelato parlour in Cortona, does the most extraordinary flavours and these days I find it hard not to have one on the way in and out of town.
The restaurants range from your basic trattoria to fine dining overlooking vineyards, always sampling the great local produce.
Can't wait to book my next visit."

"Our holiday at Casa Cerretella was our first family holiday abroad after several years spent in English cottages. We had the most relaxing, peaceful and thoroughly enjoyable time there and not only because of the weather! I can strongly recommend it to anyone looking to get away from it all in stylish luxury yet have a good base to explore the area.
Despite the detailed information and photographs provided, it is hard to really appreciate how beautiful the house is and how much time and effort has clearly gone into its design and fit-out. The combination of all mod cons (the kitchen was very well equipped, the pool was spotless and a great size for a large group), with the rustic charm of terracota flooring and wooden shutters, with the most stunning view of the surrounding hills, makes it a unique place to stay.
It was difficult to drag the children from the pool, treasure hunts round the garden and bread-making but we managed to do some superb day trips to Perugia, Sienna, Montepulciano, as well as regular trips into Cortona (20 mins picturesque and winding drive along the edge of the hillside) for shopping and dinner out, as well as catching the end of a festival there where we joined in a cookery course. Being able to wander round to the farmer next door to see what vegetables he had ready to dig up and collect fresh eggs was an added bonus. "
"We had the most idyllic time from the moment we arrived until our sad goodbye to Ceretella and its stunning Tuscan countryside. There is no need to leave the beautiful house, which has been so lovingly restored, and a pleasure just to to 'be' in. Our perfect day was not having to go anywhere further than the pool and the shady terrace for our next italian feast. Swimming, reading and snoozing by the pool with the kids playing in the garden, food and wine from the local farmer, kids pizza making and cooking in the outside pizza oven, over an early evening bellini with fresh peaches - heaven! When we managed to drag ourselves away we enjoyed day trips to Siena and Montepulciano (more fine wine) and evenings eating ice cream wandering the cobbled streets of nearby Cortona. We cant wait to return! Thank you..."
"The villa is beautiful and so well equipped, we wanted for nothing. It has given us the perfect combination of solitude and a base from which to explore."

"Fabulous house, feels like a real home rather than a rental property. Delighted with the music and book selection, felt like someone had had a sneak preview of our tastes and thoughtfully accommodated them."

"We have had a wonderful week, the house is perfect, the friendly farming family up the road kept us supplied with wine and greens. Our trips to Cortona, Sienna etc were great but it was always good to return to Casa Cerretella. Thank you for sharing this lovely place."
June & Frank, Colchester
"Every window frames the beautiful tranquil countryside which your villa nestles in. Like all previous visitors have noted your villa is superbly equipped, we felt quite at home. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home. We have no doubt that every visitor will feel equally enamoured with this very special place. We shall hate to go."
"Our first visit to Tuscany and it has been a delight. Your house is a true home. Fantastically well equipped kitchen and a bookshelf that demands a much longer stay."
Mary and Will, Inverness
"A really memorable week in a lovely home, can’t claim to have done much other than lounge by the pool and read. The house is really well equipped and the owners have clear sense of trust in leaving it laid out as a home rather than just holiday accommodation, this really makes a difference. Thank you."

"This is indeed a little haven of tranquility, a wonderful house with a fabulous kitchen, inspiring culinary skills thought long forgotten. Lovely garden and fantastic pool, especially with the lights
